The new plaques were designed to replace the original brass plaques on The Bridge, many of which were stolen or vandalized when they were placed on The Bridge almost 20 years ago. Because the 1,776 original plaques were placed on every other board along each side of The Bridge, the Foundation realized it could replace the old plaques and offer a new opportunity for a new generation to place a dedicated plaque on The Bridge by placing them on every board. Unlike the original brass plaques, the new plaques are manufactured using a high-quality base and a thin coating of zinc on which The Bridge relief and names are etched. They are then backed with a strong adhesive cement and affixed to holes routed in each board and secured with tamper-proof screws. They are also covered with a UV coating to protect them from the elements and preserve them for years to come and have little or no resale value. No new plaques have been stolen or vandalized.

The plaques serve several purposes. Combined with the sales of the recovered brass plaques to their original purchasers, the new plaques help offset the cost of replacing the original plaques and contribute greatly to the general fund the Foundation maintains to assist the City of Chattanooga in maintaining, beautifying and promoting our historic Bridge. The plaques, like their earlier incarnation, represent another opportunity for donors to show their support for The Bridge, honor others, significant live events, organizations — just about anyone or anything that can be celebrated in 32 spaces and characters or less!

Order online
Ordering online is safe and secure. You will be directed to your PayPal site, where you can use your credit or debit card. You do not have to have a PayPal account to use the site. Use the drop-down menus beneath each description below to order your plaque. For more than two plaques, repeat the ordering process. Please review these instructions before ordering:
  • Order plaques in the sidebar to the right and click the Buy Now button. You will be transferred to our PayPal account to complete your transaction. You do not need a PayPal account to complete your order.
  • Carefully enter the names as you wish them to appear on the plaque(s) — we copy the inscription as you have entered it. The limit is 32 characters and spaces on each plaque. Please count your characters/spaces and adjust your inscription to meet this limitation.
  • If you wish to order more than two (2) plaques to have them placed together on the bridge, complete your first order, then immediately repeat the process. Please make a note in the "Instructions to merchant" section of the order form.

If you are uncomfortable using your credit card information online, please download our brochure and use the attached order form to order an original brass plaque.

Once your order is processed, you will receive a receipt from us detailing your donation, which is is tax deductible. This email acts as your receipt. Manufacture and installation takes approximately two months from time of order. Because the plaques are bestowed on your behalf as a result of your donation, the City of Chattanooga technically owns the plaques.
